Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners,

I’m pleased to share that staff has completed the full draft of the ImagineGNV Comprehensive Plan. The City received almost 1,000 comments over the past 6-months of public engagement and the draft reflects a synthesis of input from the public, advisory boards, city commission, and city staff from across the organization. The draft plan will be discussed at the May 14th GPC meeting but staff has already posted the draft plan and associated data and analysis for review on the city’s Planning website here: https://www.gainesvillefl.gov/Government-Pages/Government/Departments/Sustainable-Development/Comprehensive-Planning

A few important notes to mention:

Pending items:
  1. Final design and formatting
  2. Final review and formal hearings with Plan Board and City Commission
  3. Transmittal to the Florida Department of Commerce for review
  4. Incorporating any additional input from Commission/Plan Board/Public/Staff.
Staff has also prepared two crosswalks to assist review. The first crosswalk links the ImagineGNV draft with the current comprehensive plan. The second crosswalk connects the plan with the various state comprehensive planning requirements. Both crosswalks are currently being updated with revised page numbers from the final draft plan and will be posted to the web next week. We will also share the link with the various public groups that have participated in the input gathering process.

The draft plan represents a tremendous amount of work by staff across the organization lead by a core team of planners in the Department of Sustainable Development. I’m proud of the dedication, care, and thoughtfulness they’ve poured into this project.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

Thanks!
Andrew
