Sometimes You Have To Pivot!

DANB has always been good at pivoting. After all, it IS a dance company. However the last month and a half has demanded a major pivot!

The first showing of The Ballet Process has been cancelled. Choreographer Tales Ribeiro has had to rehearse, and then perform in 5 shows in addition to rehearsing DANB’s student group, The Next Generation.  Add in two hurricanes, the last requiring him to fly out early for a guest performance resulting in another week lost. The decision was made to cancel the first showing of The Ballet Process originally scheduled for October 16th

The work, WHAT REMAINS: A STORY OF ALZHEIMER’S, is just too important to be treated casually.

The workshop sessions November 15th and January 24 will be held at Pofahl Studios from 1:00 to 2:00 followed by conversation and refreshments. Mr. Ribeiro invites you to participate in the process. The finished work will be premiered February 8, 2025 at the Phillips Center.

If you have information or experiences you would like to share, please email info@dancealive.org with “subject” The Ballet Process.

Ready Or Not  It’s Coming!

Are you prepared for DRACULA & VAMPYRA?

About

With DRACULA & VAMPYRA, you get a Vampire double-header! For those of you who love all things Vampire, this is the show for you.

#1 The Vampire classic, DRACULA, is filled with bone-chilling suspense. A dark, foreboding castle in Transylvania, filled with spider webs, dark secrets, vampires and the master of the house, Count Dracula! For this production, Tales Ribeiro portrays 'Dracula'…a  tall creature projects an aura of evil and has a strange and deadly sense of power.  'Dr. Van Helsing' is danced by Tenki Namura with 'Jonathan Harker' by Luan Brito. Harker’s fiancée, 'Miss Mina', by Marite Fuentes and her friend, 'Miss Lucy', Ashely Brooke Valladon. The Vampire Brides are Beatriz Correa, Emilia Leon and Beatrix Povoas.

NOTE: Tis the season for Dracula’s. Mr. Ribeiro is currently in Bartlesville, Oklahoma dancing in a totally different Dracula with partner Carla Amancio.

Dracula

#2 The hilarious VAMPYRA is a spoof on the vampire world – funny, fun, and LOL. The cast for this wild and quirky work includes Carla Amancio as 'Vampyra', Andre Valladon as a quirky 'Butler', Tucker Gokey as a crazed 'Houseboy' and Rachel Ridley as a very different 'Parlor Maid'!   And then there are the victims; Jose Ramos, Rosemary Deiorio, Roberto Vega, Paloma Berjano, Stirling Kolb, Marilyn Deiorio, Alison Tucker AND MAYBE YOU!

SUPPORT FOR THE ARTS

DANB was honored that Marion Cultural Alliance (MCA) extended an invitation DANB to submit a proposal for a grant funded by MCA and the National Endowment for the Arts. The grant was in support of “Access for ALL in Marion County”.

DANB learned last week that the proposal was accepted. The grant award of $7,500 from the Marion Cultural Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts will contribute to the arts in Marion County with performances at the Reilly Arts Center and Outreach Programming at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center.

DANB is proud to be a member of MCA; supporting the arts in Marion County.

For The Fearless!

A VERY Unique Backstage Experience!

If you dare, you can join Dracula, Vampyra and all their minions backstage October 25 at the Phillips Center.

Regardless of if what Dracula and Vampyra drink, you will enjoy the experience of your own personal Halloween Party complete with frighteningly fabulous food and drink and your own personal guide.

Practically on stage, you will see all the “goings on” that take place during a production; scenic changes (you will not believe Dracula’s castle),

the scramble to get on stage, and your amazing Company performing up close and personal.

Make this your own Halloween Party!

Limited to 8. $250 per couple.

For reservations, contact judy@dancealive.org

or call 352-371-2986.     Deadline October 20th.
