Dear Commission Duncan-Walker,

Congratulations on your tremendous win in the election yesterday.  I’m sure you are feeling very good about the great support the town showed you.

I’m writing to remind you of the email I sent you three weeks ago, copied below.  No doubt you had other things on your mind at the time.  I’d appreciate your reading this and responding when you can.  I’m copying Mayor Ward.

Thanks so much.

Dear Commissioner Duncan-Walker,

I cannot believe that 8 months have flown by since you gave that impressive and informative spontaneous talk to the members of the Retired Faculty of the University of Florida at the Harn Museum on November 29!  It was such a pleasure meeting you in your office prior to that talk.

I’m writing because I recall that you had suggested that Mayor Ward might be available to make a proclamation regarding the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Retired Faculty of the University of Florida organization when that time rolled around.  Well, it has.  The first meeting ever of the Retired Faculty occurred in November 1974 and its existence as a not-for-profit corporation was signed into being by the Florida Secretary of State in April 1975.    So we have chosen a special, split-the-difference date to celebrate and we would absolutlely love the Mayor to come by and say a few words.

The date is Thursday, December 5.  The time is early evening at a social mixer between 6 pm and 8 pm.  The place is Emerson Hall, home of the University of Florida Alumni Association located on University Avenue directly facing the football stadium.

How can I get in touch with Mayor Ward or his administrative assistant who handles his schedule so that I can send an email with an invitiation and the information above?   I appreciate your guidance.  We should get this scheduled sooner rather than later in the Mayor’s busy schedule.

With warm regards,

Dear Commissioner Duncan-Walker,

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving with your family.  I’ve been asked today to please send the title of your November 29 talk (this coming Wednesday) to our membership coordinator so that she can email all members a reminder to attend your talk.

I am so grateful to you for agreeing to speak to the Retired Faculty of UF.  If you could return this email with a suggested, general title ASAP, that would help so much as we usually send out reminders on the Sunday afternoon before the Wednesday talk.  (That’s tomorrow😊)

Thanks ever so much, once again.

Rick

Dear Commissioner Duncan-Walker,

Warmest wishes for a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving.

Just a quick note to ask if you have thought about a short, catchy title for your talk to our Retired Faculty of the University of Florida meeting on Wednesday morning, November 29, at 10:00 am at the Harn Museum of Art on campus?   We would love to send around a reminder to all of our membership, as we always do, again announcing your talk.  Technically, the deadline for submitting a title is this coming Friday, November 24, the day after Thanksgiving.  I have been communicating with Jertoyia regarding contacting you for your topic via several emails and a personal telephone call last week, but have not heard back.  I do apologize for intruding on your time as the holiday is fast approaching!

With much appreciation and wonderful thoughts about the time you spent with me a few weeks ago,

Rick
