James Algina,

So sorry to hear about your concerns related to wastewater billing. The City Commission does not have authority related to GRU.

However on the day you reported, I forwarded to GRU Exec Coordinator Christine Kunkel & I know she will have someone contact you if that hasn't happened already.

Sorry about the delay in responding directly. Just wanted to let you know I "got it going" in the right direction & hope all gets resolved.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Waste Water Billing

Hello Commissioner Book,

For years GRU wastewater charges were based on actual usage for a few winter months and during the other months were based the smaller of the winter maximum and actual usage. I assumed that this meant that water used for irrigation was not treated by GRU and therefore it was not appropriate for wastewater charges to reflect actual usage in the months outside of when the winter maximum was determined.  Now wastewater charges are based on actual usage all year long. So either water used for irrigation is treated by GRU or GRU is charging for services it is not provided (a rip-off in the vernacular).  I wonder if you can provide information about this issue. My bill for wastewater is typically about twice as high as my actual water bill, so this issue is of some interest to me.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.
