Dear Leaders,

I am writing to inform you of the decision made by Pleasant Street Civil Rights and Cultural Arts Center, in conjunction with Strong Minded Mentors and Cease Violence In The Hood, to withdraw our gun violence proposal from consideration. After careful consideration,
we believe that the presence of multiple similar ideas, without a unified collaborative effort, may not yield the most impactful outcomes for our community. Our primary goal is to ensure that our efforts are coordinated and aligned to maximize the positive
changes we can bring to our community.

While we have decided to withdraw our proposal, we want to emphasize our unwavering support for our partners and our commitment to leveraging our resources towards facilitating positive change in our community. In this spirit of collaboration, we respectfully
request that the Cure Violence Global team provide stakeholder training and any other relevant services that could further enhance the impact of our collective initiatives as you all see fit.

Furthermore, we are excited to share that the Cure Violence team wants to present our community with an opportunity to access additional funding through a partnership with a potential Department of Justice Grant proposal. This partnership could potentially result in a
DOJ grant award that would significantly benefit our community.

We also yield this opportunity as we were asked by the Cure Violence team to serve as a CBO to collaborate for this grant award with up to 1-3  additional CBO’s locally. Again, due to our withdrawal,
we decline to be that organization and ask that the decision be shared with our local Government stakeholders and community leaders on who that organization or organizations should be.  We believe that by coming together and aligning our efforts, we can create a better and more sustainable
future for our community while maintaining a spirit of integrity, peace and love for all of our neighbors. Our recent collaborative event shows our willing to serve in whatever capacity our community and you are leaders ask of us. We won’t hesitate to show our support to serve alongside of you all.

Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership as we work collaboratively towards achieving positive and lasting change in our community.

Respectfully,

Pastor Gerard Duncan        Pleasant Street Civil Rights and Cultural Arts Center
