To: <citycomm@gainesvillefl.gov> Hi, My name is Michael Collins. I work for PPM Solar. We have been in business locally for over 15 years and I have worked here for 13 years. I am going to keep this very short. Are the city commissioners versed in and do they understand the importance of net metering with respect to local homeowners and business owners going solar? Is the city commission aware of the GRU Authority Board's plan to end net metering in GRU territory? Apparently at a meeting scheduled for April 17th this change is either going to be announced or debated or possibly put into effect. This could essentially END THE SOLAR INDUSTRY IN GAINESVILLE AND END THE ABILITY FOR HOMEOWNERS AND BUSINESS OWNERS TO GO SOLAR. To my knowledge the GRU Authority Board's viability is being challenged in court and all members have announced they are resigning in a matter of months. To have them make a change of this magnitude in the face of ever rising global temperatures due to climate change is hard to even fathom. I would love to discuss more with you to explain this in depth and prepare you for this possible change and to help you do everything you can to fight it. SOLAR IS NOT THE REASON FOR GRU'S FINANCIAL ISSUES. NET METERING IS NOT THE REASON FOR GRU'S FINANCIAL ISSUES. Thank you, Mike
