Mayor and Commissioners β
On July 17th I informed the Sheriff that we would terminate our existing agreement for the Joint Aviation Unit and enter into a new agreement effective October 1st wherein we would provide GPD personnel to operate the existing helicopter owned and operated by the Sheriff. The Sheriff requested operational funds in addition to personnel. I did not agree with that request and the Sheriff ultimately lowered her request to just a split of fuel ($17,000) which I also declined to include in the new agreement.
Today I received the attached letter indicating that the Sheriff that the County will not pick up the additional fuel cost ($17,000) and therefore the Aviation Unit will operate on a one shift assignment and be operated solely by the Sheriff.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
